COMPLETE STREET

Complete Streets are streets for everyone.   They are designed and operated to enable safe access for all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and transit riders of all ages and abilities. Complete Streets make it easy to cross the street, walk to shops, and bicycle to work, with the following approaches:

  • Provide Transportation Choices – Enable North Minneapolis residents to access jobs, schools, stores, and civic facilities through diverse travel modes.
  • Increase Community Livability – Upgrade the physical environment of Streets, to create a sense of place, support revitalization, and promote a safe and crime-free neighborhood.
  • Integrate Transportation and Land Use – Link transportation investments with existing and future land uses, with an emphasis on aspects of the built environment that beyond driving, and directly impact pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users.
  • Involve Neighbors in Planning- Enable stakeholders to participate in the process of developing the plan for Healthy Community Design, used as guidance for the area capital projects
